Here are some pictures from our approach to Bermuda and a few photos of
that great island in the Atlantic.
- Bermuda: Finally we arrived! Just over a
week and we were there. Tania got some great shots of
the sunrise as we put our sails down in anticipation of
passing St David's Lighthouse into St Georges Harbor.
The approach is very clear cut and "Bermuda Radio" is there
to assist in any questions. All boats have to call
them on channel 16 approximately 25 miles out. They
then ask you a series of questions about your boat, people
on board, your satellite telephone, life raft, and any other
pertinent items in which they keep a data base (that even
the US Coast Guard utilizes in case of an Epirb going off
somewhere).

We were "assisted" at the Customs House by Bernard "Bernie"
"Bitsy" Oatley who had a form Tania believes for everything
on the island (in the seat of his motor scooter). "Alabama" a
delightful town local also assisted in the securing of me
(the boat). We then proceeded to St Georges Dinghy and
Sports Club where "Bernie" (who had once again the proper
forms) assisted us in securing to the dock there.

-
More Bermuda "Shorts"- Here are Bernie
"Bitsy", "Alabama" and
the outside of "Bermuda Radio" who all assisted in getting
us safely to St Georges Dinghy Dock and Bermuda itself.

- Around the Island - Here are a few shots around
the island. First is a picture from St David's
Lighthouse across the harbor to the boat way in the
distance. Next is a picture of Danny Little who gave Bob &
Tania a great tour of "Bermuda Radio" and their amazing
technology on keeping track of all marine interests in the
area. The "chickens" are a repeat for our friends Bill
and Marsha Cavinder who kept us company during a rainstorm
last fall in the same park area as we "ALL" huddled under
trees and bushes to keep (unsuccessfully) dry.

- Bob enjoying Bermuda - Bob and Tania
both enjoyed visiting Bermuda again. Here Bob is
chatting with some local ladies at St David's Lighthouse, in
town posing with "Alabama" and a larger shot of the
lighthouse itself which Bob and Tania were able to climb up
the staircase to the top which was exciting after having
viewed it from the sea.

Leaving Bermuda - After a great week in Bermuda
it was time to re-fuel, provision, and say goodbye to new
friends and set off on the "longest" leg of the journey.
A submarine greeted us at the "sea bouy" (was Clay Spikes on
board?) and we left on a 20 day "hike" across the Atlantic.
Here Bob and Tania are at the helm on their respective
"watches" (and forgot to wear sunscreen that day - NOT
a problem!)
